Do you ever think about kids with no presents for the holidays? Or with no toys at all? Think about kids who can’t afford good presents. That’s where BCE comes in. For 10 years, Barton Creek has worked with Blue Santa a non-profit organization for kids who don’t get presents over the holidays. 5th grade students and Mrs. Poole set-up boxes outside of everyone’s classroom. They ask kids and families to bring brand new toys and put them in the boxes. They also encourage kids to donate by doing fun competitions like a dance party or an hour of STEAM time with the Joy Drive committee that you earn from the most toys or reach their class goals first. This year we collected an amazing 1,736 toys! Thank you everyone for putting effort in making this happen. #kidblog #bluesanta

Eanes ISD is hosting it's first ever Student Film Festival this year and it's open to all EISD KG-12th grade students. Students are invited to create original films that focus on SEL (Social-Emotional Learning) with a few twists. How will you move us? To tears, to feel, to laugh, to rise to action? How can we #CHOOSEKIND or how do we feel when we don't? Ask your campus Ed Tech for more information and check out the challenge, rules and regulations on the Festival de Eanes website.
Some of our students have been working very hard which now has become a few spectacular ….. Concerts! So, the school has had many choir performances, the 1st graders with Thanksgiving and 2nd graders with toys but the Blue Jay Singers is even BIGGER than the others! It’s called “Jingle Bell Jukebox.” McNicholas gathered 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders and worked since September to show teachers, students, friends, and family what they love to do …. sing! Thank you Blue Jay Singers, Little Blue Jays and Jamin' Jayz for amazing shows. I suggest going to see the Blue Jay Singers show at the Hill Country Galleria starting at 6:30 on Friday, December 15, 2017! I assure you’ll have a big happy smile after they perform! #kidblog #singingrocks #bluejaysingers Yesterday we had the opportunity to have Jesse Ruben speak and sing to Barton Creek. He told us stories about his life and difficult obstacles he has been through. Our awesome counselor, Mrs.Wager went to all the classes and help us make I can posters to use at Jesse’s finale at the end of the day. We thank all the people that helped us make this happen and thank you Jesse for coming to BCE! #kidblog #wecan Jesse Ruben Singing "We Can" |
